The exhibition “The Prince of Goldsmiths: Rediscovering the Classics” offers a mesmerizing journey into the world of Buccellati’s exquisite craftsmanship and timeless elegance. From the intricately designed pieces in gold and precious stones that sparkle like stars in the Venetian night to the refined silver creations that tell stories of Novecento elegance and sophistication, each piece is a unique work of art that captures attention and evokes emotions.

Steeped in history, with its roots tracing back to Milan in 1919, Buccellati has evolved from a small atelier founded by the young apprentice Mario Buccellati into an internationally renowned jewelry powerhouse synonymous with timeless elegance and artisanal mastery. Through three generations of goldsmiths steering the maison, Buccellati has upheld its tradition while infusing it with a contemporary touch.

The exhibition highlights the evolution of Buccellati’s style, showcasing iconic butterfly motifs crafted by successive generations of artisans that beautifully blend tradition with innovation. From the Art Nouveau-inspired soft and sinuous lines of early butterflies to the geometric and precise contemporary interpretations, the evolution of Buccellati’s aesthetic vision is on display, revealing the brand’s ability to adapt and transform over time.

The showcase also delves into Buccellati’s distinctive techniques, such as the intricate “millefili” and “ricciolo” work on gold masterpieces adorned with precious stones. Each creation in “The Gallery of the Icons” is a testament to the passion and dedication of Buccellati’s goldsmiths, bridging the gap between the brand’s heritage pieces from the past century and its current collections, proving that tradition can inspire modern innovation and creativity.

A special section of the exhibition pays tribute to the unique relationship between Mario Buccellati and the poet Gabriele d’Annunzio, showcasing how their collaboration influenced Buccellati’s design aesthetic with literary and symbolic elements inspired by d’Annunzio’s poetic world.

Through meticulous curation of the maison’s historical archives by curator Alba Cappellieri, visitors are given a glimpse into Buccellati’s remarkable legacy and extraordinary craftsmanship. The exhibition seamlessly weaves together past and present, showcasing that artistry and elegance transcend the boundaries of time. “The Prince of Goldsmiths” is a testament to Buccellati’s enduring legacy and its unwavering commitment to beauty, tradition, and innovation in the world of high jewelry.
