After their exhibition at the Bregenz Kunsthaus which caused such scandal, and the enormous statue made of urine presented at the first Moscow Biennial, the next provocation by the Austrian collective Gelatin has recently opened as part of the ARC program at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.
The show (from March 1 to April 20) inaugurates the 2008 program of the museum and follows the artists’ flamboyant collateral show at the last Venice Biennial, entitled “The Hamsterwheel.”
In the French capital the collective presents “La Louvre – Paris,” a selection of over 3000 works by Gelatin and their entourage, accompanied by a newspaper catalogue featuring contributions by Oleg Kulig, Lawrence Weiner, Paola Pivi, Cerith Wyn Evans, Samuel Beckett, Midori Matsui, Franz West, Liam Gillick, Raymond Pettibon, Christoph Büchel and more.
The show is enriched by a series of visites exceptionnelles, conducted among others by psychiatrist, psychologist and philosopher Gabriel Loebell, dancer and choreographer Jennifer Lacey, MAM / ARC director Fabrice Herrgott, Palais de Tokyo director Marc-Olivier Wahler, art critic and curator Francesco Stocchi and Gelatin’s French gallerist, Emmanuel Perrotin.
