Maurizio Cattelan’s return / Warsaw

November 12, 2012

After a year of silence and retirement from the art-world, Maurizio Cattelan will have his first exhibition after his major Guggenheim New York retrospective.

Titled “Amen” and curated by Justyna Wesołowska, a selection of his most significant works will be on display at the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw. Cattelan poses questions about our understanding of death, sacrifice, forgiveness, the genesis of evil in humankind, national identity, and historical memory. In usual Cattelan fashion, the exhibition expands beyond the gallery and lives in the public space – one of the major pieces will be displayed on 14 Próżna Street.
“Amen” runs from 16 November 2012–24 February 2013.
