During the opening days of dOCUMENTA(13) in Kassel, Germany, Absolute Art Bureau announced the new format of the Absolut Art Award. Presented in Stockholm annually, the award now introduces two new categories: art work and art writing (both with a EUR 20,000 cash prize and lifetime supply of Absolut vodka), the possibility of creating a “dream project” in each category, as well as introducing a hybrid selection process combining open and closed nomination techniques. The Absolut Art Award which was instituted in 2009 has included such winners as Anri Sala (2011), Rirkrit Tiravanija (2010) and Keren Cytter (2009).
The Absolut Art Bureau is responsible for The Absolut Company’s international art initiatives and has been active since 1985 has collaborated with more than 500 artists on over 800 commissioned projects.
