Performa launches Venice Biennale-like Pavilions / New York

March 4, 2013

Performa has announced “Pavilions Without Walls”, an initiative that arranges collaborative projects undertaken between Performa and artists from participating countries. The multiyear collaboration will premiere at the Performa 13 Biennial (November 1 – 25) with Norway and Poland as the inaugural nations. The pavilions will be modeled after the Venice Biennale pavilions.

Each of the Performa Pavilions will have five major components: A major new performance by a single artist; an “omnibus” project featuring multiple international artists; 2-3 smaller-scale performance projects; invitations to curators, artists, scholars, and other art workers and 6-18 months of professional training and development for two emerging cultural producers from each participating country.
Participants will be announced at a later date.
