Noah Horowitz has joined The Armory Show as the fair’s new Managing Director, effective October 31. Along with co-founder Paul Morris and Managing Directors Michael Hall and Deborah Harris, Horowitz will fulfill a central role as part of the management team.
The press release states that Horowitz’s position will include shaping the fair’s creative vision and cultivating relationships with participants and collectors for Pier 94, the fair’s contemporary section.
Horowitz comes to The Armory Show from the VIP Art Fair, where he served as the online fair’s director since its inception. Previously he worked at the Serpentine Gallery in London. His writings and interviews have appeared in numerous international publications and exhibition catalogues, and he is the author of Art of the Deal: Contemporary Art in a Global Financial Market, published in 2011.
The press release adds that The Armory Show is making significant changes to the fair layout. Among other features, Pier 94 will include a select group of participating galleries, each with a larger space to exhibit. Furthermore, The Armory Show will display work by Commission Artist Theaster Gates, and will include an Armory Focus section on the art of the Nordic countries curated by Jacob Fabricius, the Director of the Malmö Konsthall.
The Armory Show takes place from March 8-11, 2012 at Piers 92 & 94 inNew York City.
